We make our admission process as straightforward and personalized as possible. If you have any questions or need guidance, our counselors and advisers in the School of Nursing are available to assist you at every stage of your application process.
Fall start (begin classes in August)
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with priority given to those who apply by June 1.
Spring start (begin classes in January)
Applications for part-time study are accepted on a rolling basis with priority given to those who apply by November 15.
Applications are reviewed once all of the required materials have been received. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that missing documents are received prior to the stated admissions deadline. Once all application materials are received, the graduate nursing program director and/or members of the faculty may contact eligible candidates to schedule an interview.
One year of nursing experience is required for admission. New nurses are encouraged to apply prior to completion of that first year to allow sufficient time for application processing.
Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in nursing or another field.
Applicant must have maintained an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
All required courses must be completed by the application deadline.
Applicants must have an unrestricted nursing license in the state(s) they will be completing their clinical rotations.

Official transcripts
It is the applicant's responsibility to request official transcripts from all undergraduate, graduate and professional schools attended (including part-time and summer study). If the applicant received transfer credit from another institution, it is still necessary to have an official transcript sent from the original university. These transcripts must be provided to Quinnipiac University in a sealed envelope or sent electronically to graduate@qu.edu
Two professional letters of recommendation
These should be references from persons with authority to evaluate the applicant's professional ability. Applicants will be required to enter their recommenders' contact information on the application.
Personal statement that addresses the professional goals and motivations of the applicant as well as a nursing experience that has shaped or influenced their practice. Applicants should also explain why they chose the particular specialty; for example, why are you interested in primary care versus acute care? Or, why are you interested in family medicine (birth through geriatrics) versus adult-gerontology (adolescence through geriatrics)?

Nursing license
Applicants are required to have a valid, unrestricted nursing license in the state(s) where they will complete their clinical rotations prior to the start of the program. Applications will still receive full consideration if the license is pending at the time of submission. The NCLEX-RN exam must be completed prior to August 1. Applicants will be able to upload nursing licenses when completing their application or from the student portal after submitting their application.
