| Student Health Services staff |
The highest priorities of the staff are to meet the acute health needs of the student population and to provide ongoing health education opportunities as an integral part of the Quinnipiac experience.
All students must submit, on forms provided by Quinnipiac, a complete history of immunization and the results of a pre-entrance physical examination. This examination must be administered by a licensed health care provider within one year prior to the start of classes. These forms serve as a basis for health counseling and decisions about physical activities in which students can engage.
Student Health Services are available only to students who complete the required forms and have proof of adequate immunization as required by the State of Connecticut Department of Health Services. Students who do not comply are not permitted to register, including pre-registration for the second semester.
Services available:
Individual prescriptions may be taken to local pharmacies to be filled at the usual and customary fee. Rides to pharmacies are provided twice each day, Monday through Thursday, and once on Friday. All laboratory requests are sent to QUEST unless a specific request is made by the student. There is a nominal fee for gynecological examinations and contraceptive supplies provided in Student Health Services.
Students engaged in allergen immunotherapy prior to coming to Quinnipiac may continue this therapy in Student Health Services. Students participating in this program must follow the guidelines set forth by Philip A. Brewer, MD FACEP, University medical director. This information may be obtained by phoning Student Health Services to obtain a copy.
Student Health Insurance
Quinnipiac University has partnered with Gallagher Koster to develop a student health insurance plan especially for students. The plan provides coverage for illnesses and injuries that occur on and off campus and includes special cost-saving features to keep the coverage as affordable as possible.
This is a hard waiver policy. A hard waiver program means that students MUST maintain major medical insurance coverage. The coverage may be waived if the student presents evidence of other health insurance coverage under a plan that provides benefits equal to or greater than the Quinnipiac University Student Health Insurance Plan. Students must document evidence of coverage and make an online waiver decision prior to the waiver deadline of August 14.
