Alumni in Health Care

Quinnipiac offers nationally recognized programs in physical and occupational therapy, as well as programs leading to careers in nursing, diagnostic imaging, athletic training and more. As a result of their education, QU graduates are bound for highly successful health care careers.

Here's what some of our alumni are doing in health care:


Jack Carpenter MHS '03, PA-C, is a physician assistant at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell, Wyo., where he serves a variety of patient needs. He has also worked as a PA in a clinic, on a surgical team and in an emergency room. Carpenter recently traveled to Ecuador to serve as the medical staff person on a research expedition.

 

 

Patrick Charmel '81, BS health administration, is CEO of Griffin Health Services Corporation, the parent organization of Griffin Hospital in Derby, Conn. Charmel is also the CEO of Planetree, Inc., a not-for-profit dedicated to humanize the hospital experience, and a member of the National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality.





Rita Parisi '77, BS occupational therapy, is president and CEO of Eastern Rehabilitation Network, one of the largest rehabilitation service providers in Connecticut. Since taking on the leadership role 13 years ago, she has grown the company from 10 locations to 70.






Violano

Giuseppina (Pina) Violano '86, BS nursing, is an injury prevention coordinator in the trauma, surgical critical care & surgical emergencies department at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Her collaboration with the city of New Haven on the Street Smarts Pedestrian Safety Initiative helped the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital receive the designation of Injury Free Coalition for Kids of New Haven.
