HS 303 - Historiography and Historical Methods
(3 cr.) This advanced seminar is intended for majors and other students interested in deepening their knowledge of the techniques of reading, writing, researching and interpreting history. Students get a broad introduction to the concept of historiography and consider the ways in which thinking about the past has changed over time. Students also learn the foundational skills needed for the researching and writing of history, including an introduction to basic research techniques, compilation and organization of primary and secondary source materials, and the practical and theoretical skills necessary to undertake historical writing.
