Summer Programs for High School Students

This summer, take a vacation from the ordinary and continue your education in one of Quinnipiac’s Pre-College Summer Programs. We are proud to offer a growing list of summer programs designed to give dedicated high school students a chance to grow academically and personally while getting an early taste of the college experience.

On-Campus Summer Pre-College Programs
Our on-campus summer programs provide the perfect introduction to college-level work in a real collegiate environment and also make future college applications stand out in the eyes of recruiters.

Hybrid Summer Pre-College Programs
We offer a 2-week hybrid program that you may participate in either fully online, or partially online with 4 full-day on-campus sessions. Develop in-demand skills from your own home while having the opportunity to experience Quinnipiac’s innovative facilities in person.

Online Summer Pre-College Programs
These one- and two-week, project-based online summer programs include both live and self-paced learning open to middle school or high school students. These programs offer great value for those who are curious, motivated and want to use their time to explore new and exciting topics ideally suited for online learning.

On-Campus Programs Offered

June 21 - July 2, 2021

If you’re a high school student with different abilities and aspire to be a content creator, then this summer program provides you with the media production tools you’ll need to share your story with the world. You’ll learn how to develop compelling content across multiple social media platforms using professional media production techniques and industry-standard equipment in state-of-the-art facilities.

June 28 - July 2, 2021

This summer program gives you a hands-on introduction into the fascinating field of medical microbiology. You’ll utilize the same lab techniques used by researchers and medical professionals as you explore the important roles that microbes — viruses, bacteria, fungi — play in the spread, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.

Hybrid Programs Offered

July 12 - July 23, 2021

The secrets to starting a successful business aren’t secrets at all, but concepts and skill sets that anyone with a great idea and a lot of hustle can learn. If that sounds like you, then this hybrid summer program is your opportunity to acquire the same technical and creative skills used by all successful entrepreneurs, from how to develop and improve your own business idea to creating a viable, lean business plan.

You may participate in this 2-week hybrid program either fully online, or partially online with 4 full-day on-campus sessions. You choose the path that works best for you.

Online Programs Offered

Session 1: July 12 - July 16, 2021

Session 2: August 2 - August 6, 2021

Photography is a passion, a profession and a valuable skill to have in our digital world. In this hands-on summer course, you’ll develop photography skills by shooting real photo assignments. You don’t need an incredibly expensive camera to shoot professional-quality digital pictures, and you’ll finish this course with a portfolio of edited photos to prove it.

In a digital world that can feel a bit like the Wild West, cybersecurity is hugely important, and something that young people should understand. This summer course was developed by ISECOM (the Institute for Security and Open Methodologies), and teaches you how to safeguard your computers and digital devices, protect your personal data, and detect the most common methods used by hackers and cyber criminals.

Podcasts continue to grow in popularity all over the world, and if you’re one of the millions of fans with ideas for their own podcasts, this summer course is for you. In this course, you’ll learn the elements of podcast production under the guidance of a former National Public Radio host and a veteran broadcast journalist, and eventually develop and publish your own podcast about a topic you find most interesting.

Think Microsoft Excel is just a program for making dry spreadsheets? Think again. In this online summer course, you’ll go beyond the blank cells and learn to work with and present all kinds of data using Excel’s many functions, formulas and tools. This hands-on course teaches you how to use Microsoft Excel to interpret and present all forms of data, a skill desired by employers in numerous fields.
