AN 222 - (UC) Indigenous Peoples of North America
(3 cr.) Students are introduced to the diversity of indigenous cultures as they changed and transformed from the time of human migration to the North American continent to today. There is particular emphasis on the contact period with European explorers and settlers. Attention is focused on the contemporary lives of indigenous peoples, including people living on reservations and in urban areas, with regard to the unique place they occupy in society and history and their continuing struggles for recognition and equality.
