LAWS 450 - Non-Profit Organizations
(2 cr.) This course explores the historical development and principal theoretical rationals for the non-profit sector. It examines the formation, classification, peration, and goverances of non-profit organizations under both state and federal law. Particular emphasis will be given to state corporation law and federal tax exemption issues, including responsibilities and liabilities of directors, officers, and volunteers; financial management; the public policy issues involving commercial, lobbying, and other political activities; and constitutional issues affecting non- profit organizations. Prerequisite: LAWS 305.
