MA 110 - (UC) Contemporary Mathematics
(3 cr.) This course introduces students to the study of mathematics as a discipline and also presents topics that are applicable to students' everyday lives. Topics include logic, probability and statistics and financial mathematics. The course also covers two topics from the following list: geometry, set theory, number theory, measurement, problem solving, mathematical systems, scientific applications, history of mathematics. Topics are chosen by the instructor. Students should check the mathematics requirements for their major before selecting their first course in mathematics. MA 110 is not designed to be a prerequisite for any calculus course. Prerequisite: A math placement level of 2 or above, or successful completion of MA 100. Every Year, All
