AN 230 - Anthropology of Film and Culture
(3 cr.) This course focuses on the use of ethnographic film as a professionally objective vehicle for interpreting, defining and communicating about human behavior. Students apply their knowledge of anthropological concepts and theory to a series of films as a way of developing an integrated cultural awareness, and also to critically evaluate the filming process itself. To further the understanding of the importance of visual representation, students create their own photographic essay of an ethnographic event that they have witnessed or participated in. As Needed
