|(3 cr.) This course introduces mechanical engineering
design as an interactive decision-making process.
One engineering design problem reinforces the
design process instruction and culminates in a
student competition. Students begin a major
design experience that applies the
mechanical engineering design process to a
real-world engineering problem addressing social,
political, economic and technical issues.
Students begin Major Design Experience (MDE)
assignments early in the course and
continue their projects with MER 498.
