IER 465 - Principles of Industrial Hygiene
(3 cr.) This course presents an introduction to the foundations of the field of Industrial Hygiene, a discipline devoted to the anticipation, recognition, measurement, evaluation and control of occupational health hazards. Topics include biological (e.g., microbial agents, allergens); chemical (e.g., solvents, carcinogens, dusts); and physical (e.g., radiation, temperature) hazards. The class includes both lecture and participatory case-study activities and provides ample opportunity for hands-on use of monitoring equipment, protective equipment and controls testing devices.
