SW 631 - Clinical Social Work with Aging and Families
(3 cr.) This advanced course covers clinical social work practice with older adults and their families. Major goals of this course will be for students to: understand the aging process from a holistic perspective, including biophysical, psychological (cognitive & emotional), social/economical, and spiritual dimensions; develop knowledge and skills to conduct a competent psychosocial assessment and implement effective interventions with older adults and their caregivers; and be capable case managers in a specific practice setting, such as adult protective services, retirement communities, hospices, hospitals, adult day centers, and psychiatric institutions.
