PT 668 - Psychosocial Aspects of Physical Disability
(2 cr.) This course addresses the psychosocial dimensions of physical therapy intervention from the therapist's and client's perspective. Topics include: the humanistic philosophy as part of psychological rehabilitation, physical and psychological variables that influence recovery, qualities of experts, the therapeutic relationship, client-centered practice, psychological influences on rehabilitation and adaptation including stress and trauma, mental health conditions, behavioral management of difficult persons and situations including suicidality, abuse and mental illness, and intervention strategies of sexuality and disability.
