Our closing Black History Month speaker will feature Dr. Christina Dickerson-Cousin, Assistant Professor of History and author of Black Indians and Freedmen: The African Methodist Episcopal Church and Indigenous Americans, 1816-1916 published by the University of Illinois Press. The book explores the role of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in westward expansion and migration. This event is a collaboration between the Department of Cultural and Global Engagement and the College of Arts and Sciences. Books should be purchased in advance of the event. Copies of the book are available on Amazon. A limited quantity of books will be given away to attendees.
