Documentary Screening & Discussion with Producer of "Brainwashed: Sex-Camera-Power"

Join us for a conversation with feminist pioneering filmmaker Nina Menkes! In collaboration with the QU Women in Film, the FTM department and CPM program are thrilled to screen “Brainwashed: Sex-Power-Camera” on May 2nd at 3:30pm in Buckman Theater, after which Menkes will zoom in for a live Q&A. In this eye-opening documentary, Menkes explores the sexual politics of cinematic shot design and shows how these not-so-subtle embedded messages affect and intersect with the twin epidemics of sexual abuse and assault, as well as employment discrimination against women, especially in the film industry. The result is an electrifying call-to-action that will fundamentally change the way you see, and watch, movies.
