In celebration of Black History Month, the Quinnipiac Creative Writing Series presents a poetry reading by poet Luther Hughes on Wednesday, February 8, at 7 PM (ET) via Zoom (password: LH2823). Free and open to the public, the reading will be followed by a Q&A with the audience, moderated by Prof. Jason Koo. The event is sponsored by the Department of English and the College of Arts & Sciences. Luther Hughes is the author of the debut poetry collection A Shiver in the Leaves (BOA Editions, 2022) and the chapbook Touched (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2018), recommended by the American Library Association. He is the founder of Shade Literary Arts, a literary organization for queer writers of color, and cohosts the Poet Salon podcast. Hughes is the recipient of a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship and 92Y Discovery Poetry Prize, and his writing has been published in American Poetry Review, Paris Review, Orion and other places. He was born and raised in Seattle, where he currently lives.
