Warp Trio Concert

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to bring this type of innovative musical event to the Quinnipiac campus and the Hamden community,” said George Sprengelmeyer, director of music at Quinnipiac.

Warp Trio, which actually features four members, is an internationally touring cross-genre chamber music group. In addition to public performances, the group has gained a reputation for its innovative educational workshops with students from grade school through the university level. 

“Professor Sprengelmeyer and the committee have been dedicated to exposing our community to a diversity of musical experiences,” said Don Sawyer, vice president for equity, inclusion and leadership development at Quinnipiac. “This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together during the month where we recognize and celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of Black Americans. I hope people are entertained and learn a few things as a result of attending the Warped Trio event.”

Warp has performed hundreds of concerts across the United States, in addition to tours throughout The United Kingdom, Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, West Africa and the Caribbean.

Their education work has led them to numerous colleges and universities where they have presented their original workshops and masterclasses in improvisation and creative music making. Recent highlights include the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, James Madison University, North Carolina School of the Arts, Cal State LA, University of the Virgin Islands and SUNY Binghamton, among many others.
