Associate Professor of Interactive Media and Design

Courtney Marchese, MFA, is an associate professor of Interactive Media + Design at Quinnipiac University, teaching a wide range of design theory, research, and technical skills at the undergraduate and graduate level. She is also a professional designer with over a decade of experience specializing in data visualization, information graphics, user experience design, and usability studies. Using a human-centered design approach, Marchese has created a number of data-based multidisciplinary projects, including a nationally recognized award-winning voter education initiative based on political data from the renowned Quinnipiac Polling Institute. Other recent projects include data visuals on: social disparities for the State of Urban Connecticut report, food insecurity for United Way’s Facts & Faces report, and global vector diseases for the Institute for Disease Modeling.

Her forthcoming book from Bloomsbury Press is titled, Information Design for the Common Good, which explores the role of information design and data visualization in contemporary society. The power of integrity in information design is explored as it relates to the visual explanation of some of today’s most challenging issues including social, political, environmental, and global health agendas.
