Asst Teaching Prof of Sociology and Women's & Gender Studies

Jim Buccini serves as Assistant Teaching Professor of Sociology; Experiential Learning Coordinator for the Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice and Anthropology; and Affiliate Faculty for Woman and Gender Studies. His primary areas of teaching include sociology and social services. Jim is passionate about social justice, equity and inclusion. He served as chair of the CAS Committee for Diversity and Inclusion, and has supported university efforts toward LGBTQ+ equity and inclusion for students of color. Off campus, Jim serves on the steering committee of the Quiet Corner Refugee Resetlement project, and theboard of Trails for Travis, a nonprofit fundation supporting individuals diagnosed with blastoglioma, their families, and cancer research. He has also served as music minister of progressive Christian communities.
