Federal government's new dietary guidelines

Dana White

Dana Angelo White, a registered dietitian who is a clinical assistant professor of athletic training and sports medicine, is available to discuss the federal government's new dietary guidelines.

"I am thrilled to see that these revamped guidelines are increasing the emphasis on improving overall eating patterns," White said. "Key recommendations to achieve a better diet include cutting added sugars and unhealthy fats to no more than 10% of total calories and keeping sodium intake to less than 2300 milligrams per day. There's also guidance on what folks should be eating, including lots of fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy, whole grains and lean protein. These are realistic and attainable goals for Americans to improve their diets and health starting today."

To speak to White, please contact John Morgan, associate vice president for public relations at Quinnipiac University, at 203-206-4449 (cell) or 203-582-5359 (office).
