Why Become a Student Mentor?

By becoming a mentor, Quinnipiac students will:

  • Motivate future Bobcats to pursue their passions by sharing details about their personal career experiences.

  • Develop meaningful and trusting relationships with students seeking guidance during their introduction to the collegiate experience.

  • Help students work through implicit bias, racism and social justice in their educational journey.

  • Build a portfolio of work experience in a dynamic place-based science education program that promotes increased science engagement, identity, career interest, career knowledge, relationships, critical thinking and perseverance in high school students.

  • Earn an hourly wage of $20 (total compensation up to $1,400 per year).

  • Build high-demand soft skills, such as communication, critical thinking and confidence in a role that helps promote education in our community.

  • Become a core member of a program that seeks to increase meaningful learning opportunities for students who identify as Black, Indigenous or as a Person of Color (BIPOC students).
