Field of dreams

When Savanna Reilly ’16, MBA ‘17, showed up for her freshman year at Quinnipiac she was told that, although part of the field hockey team, she would likely not see any action on the field. Still, Reilly was eager to do her part for the team. “Freshman year I knew that I could control my fitness, my effort and my attitude,” she says. “I had to earn the respect of my team without earning it on the field. I had to kind of find my role — whatever I could do to make everyone else better.”

That dedication and drive paid off. Not only did Reilly, a forward, ultimately emerge as a star on the team (she earned MAAC honors two years in a row), but she morphed into an academic superstar, too. Reilly chose to pursue a double major in both public relations and computer information systems. In the summer of 2016 she landed an internship at Deloitte in Stamford. She impressed there, too. “Now I have a job at Deloitte waiting for me when I graduate. I’ve always been an athlete. So here I didn’t have to take a whole new path. I was able to transform the old me into a better me, instead of having to create a whole new me.”
