“The people at Quinnipiac prepared me more for this than I can ever express,” she said. “I was the editor for the Quinnipiac Bobcats Sports Network for a few years, and that experience was invaluable.”
At QBSN, she pitched, wrote and edited stories, learned how to prepare for interviews and gained an understanding of the demands of this business.
“My professors encouraged me to pursue this path and to think critically,” she said. “When I applied for this job, even though I had been working at a newspaper for a couple of years, I used a writing sample from my QBSN days (a profile of Michael Garteig) because I was and still am proud of that work. The Quinnipiac journalism community is so supportive — even after graduation. My former professors reached out to me and pushed me to dream big, and because of that, I took the risk to apply for this job in 2016. Something as simple as knowing you have a team who believes in you as a writer makes all the difference.”
