Richard comes to Quinnipiac from UnitedHealthcare, a Fortune 50 company where he was vice president for corporate communications. During his nearly 17-year tenure at the company, he helped craft the organization-wide narrative and brand platform, while also building and leading media and community relations, executive visibility, digital and social strategies, and issues advocacy. He recently spearheaded a research project with Harvard Medical School culminating in a provocative white paper on value-based health care and its implications for the quality of U.S. health care. In previous roles with the company, Richard also managed internal communications and launched its first-ever corporate magazine.
Before joining UnitedHealthcare, Richard worked at Weber Shandwick, providing counsel to clients ranging from government agencies to technology startups and Fortune 100 companies. He also has served as director of communications for a nonprofit association. A graduate of Marist College with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Richard also has worked as a reporter for Congress Daily, Time and the Hartford Courant.
