he No. 4/5 Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team blanked the Colgate Raiders, 6-0, on Saturday night at NYCB Live, the Home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, on Long Island.
With the victory, head coach Rand Pecknold earned his 500th career victory — and becomes just the second coach in Quinnipiac history to record 500 wins at the university and the 26th coach in NCAA Ice Hockey history to reach the mark. Also during the game, Chase Priskie '19 became the fourth defenseman and 40th player in program history to record 100 points.
The Bobcats began the second half of the season tied for the most wins in the nation with 14, joined by UMass (14-2-0), Minnesota State (14-4-0) and Arizona State (14-6-0). The team leads the country with seven shutouts so far this season.
Saturday’s victory caps an exciting period for the program as Bobcat alumnus Devon Toews ’17 made his NHL debut as he suited up for the New York Islanders’ 3-1 victory on December 23. He was impressive in his debut, recording a +1 along with three shots on goal and had a time-on-ice of 18:05. He is the third former Bobcat to play in the NHL this season and seventh overall to dress for an NHL game.
