"The program enabled me to study and work there for a semester and really get my feet wet in the industry that I want to go into," Brooke Mommsen '18 said. "Anyone who wants to study film knows that Los Angeles is the place to be."
Mommsen completed two internships in Los Angeles — at the Montecito Picture Company and Eclectic Pictures.
"I worked in script-reading and in development, creating look-books for films, helping to pitch them to investors, sitting in writing meetings and doing work that really mattered," she said. "I came away knowing this is what I really want to do after I graduate."
Mommsen said she was able to develop important networking connections as part of the experiene.
In the QU in LA program, everything is within reach. It’s what contributes to our 8.7 percent “value-add” over peer private schools and 12.8 percent “value-add” over peer public schools, according to a 2015 National Survey of Student Engagement.
Students arrive ready to tackle internships at major television networks and film production companies; top talent and sports agencies; and some of the most innovative public relations and marketing firms servicing the entertainment and fashion industries today.
An incredibly rich opportunity for personal and professional growth, QU in LA is just another example of why Quinnipiac routinely outperforms other universities in terms of employer-desired skills and knowledge — and contributes to the fact 96.5 percent of our graduates find full-time work or educational opportunities within six months of graduation.
