The Children’s Center of Hamden is celebrating 185 years of service this year, making it Connecticut’s oldest chartered private child-caring agency for children and teenagers. Since 1833, it has evolved into a highly respected facility for children who must deal with the effects of physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychiatric illness, learning disabilities, substance abuse and family trauma.
“It’s wonderful to be able to benefit children in the immediate area,” said Jordan Weiss ‘18, an athletic training major. “It’s inspiring to see up close what the kids are able to accomplish with the money that #BobcatNation comes together to raise.”
On average, more than 150 children and their families benefit each day from programs and treatment offered by The Children’s Center of Hamden. Kappa Delta at Quinnipiac has helped make much of this possible and hopes to continue their relationship with The Children’s Center of Hamden for years to come.
