Emory University psychologist to lecture March 20

Feb. 4, 2014 - Scott O. Lilienfeld, distinguished psychologist from Emory University, will present the lecture, "Does Psychology Get a Bad Rap? Why Many People View the Study of Human Nature as Unscientific," from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, in the Grand Courtroom of the School of Law. The talk, sponsored by the psychology department in the College of Arts and Sciences, is free and open to the public.

Lilienfeld will discuss the sources of skepticism of psychology and recommend how to enhance public perception of psychology as a scientific discipline. 

Lilienfeld, a faculty member at Emory since 1994, earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Cornell University and his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Minnesota. He completed his clinical internship at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, Penn.
