FDA’s new regulation for gluten-free labels

Dana White
Dana A. White

Dana A. White, a registered dietitian and a clinical assistant professor of athletic training and sports medicine, is available to discuss the Connecticut bill to ban chocolate milk from school cafeterias.

"The proposed ban is silly as far as I am concerned," said White. "The nutrient benefits of chocolate milk including calcium, potassium and vitamin D are all nutrients that kids don't get enough of. They far outweigh the sugar and sodium. For athletes, the extra carbohydrates (yes, sugar!) in chocolate milk make it a superior choice for a post-workout recovery drink. Efforts towards improving nutrition in the schools are best directed elsewhere. Parents also have the responsibility to reduce intake of sodium and sugar at home."

To speak to White, please contact John Morgan, associate vice president for public relations at Quinnipiac University, 203-206-4449 (cell) or 203-582-5359 (office).
