Local teachers enjoy visit from the BioBus

Local school teachers participate in a training program for Connecticut BioBus mobile laboratory.

June 8, 2010 - Science teachers from across Connecticut honed their skills in a series of teacher training workshops May 26-28 and June 4, 2010, at the center.

The workshops were administered by the Bioscience Explorations educational outreach program. They included BioBus experiments, taught on the mobile Connecticut BioBus laboratory, and training for the BioConnection equipment loan program.

The BioBus visits schools free of charge, after teachers have participated in the workshop training which prepares them for the bus' visit to their schools.

"Quinnipiac is so gracious to host, and it works out really well," said Kerry Donahue, senior staff scientist at Connecticut United for Research Excellence, which runs the BioScience Explorations educational outreach program.

Approximately 65 elementary, middle and secondary school teachers participated in the workshops.
