June 13, 2014 - The Connecticut League for Nursing (CLN) presented its Nurse Leadership Award to Lisa O'Connor, professor and chair of undergraduate nursing programs in the School of Nursing, at its annual meeting on June 12, at the Marriott Hartford Downtown.

"It is an honor to be recognized by the Connecticut League for Nursing and my nursing peers," O'Connor said. "The CLN is a tremendous organization making great strides for nursing education in Connecticut. We work as a team, led by CLN Executive Director Marcia Proto. It is a collaborative effort among a group of nurse educators/administrators in Connecticut as well as the National League for Nursing and the Department of Public Health. I am proud to be among such a valued group of nursing professionals."

The leadership award is presented to a nurse educator who: demonstrates outstanding leadership, service and commitment to CLN's mission; is recognized as a creative leader who has made a positive difference in the direction of the league; serves as a role model and mentor for future league leaders; and has inspired others to become effectively engaged in accomplishing the league's mission.

"Dr. O'Connor has made substantial contributions through the Connecticut League for Nursing to further nursing education in the state," said Jean Lange, founding dean of the School of Nursing. "She is highly respected for her ability to collaborate and inspire others."
