40-Hour Mediation Training
Our mediation training is designed for lawyers and non-lawyers alike and is led by experienced mediators and trainers, William Logue and Loraine Della Porta. This training is focused around experiential learning; each participant will have many opportunities to apply and practice mediation skills and receive feedback. Participants will gain the following skills:
- Deeper understanding of mediation as a way to resolve disputes in commercial and business affairs, divorce and child custody cases, employment relationships, union-management contracts, environmental matters, health care issues, public policy debates and other areas
- Ability to design and provide mediation services in a variety of settings
- Listening, reframing, defusing and containing emotions and other communication skills
- Ability to manage interest-based negotiations between two or more parties
Each participant receives a binder with training materials and readings.
This program has been approved for Continuing Education Credit Hours for the National Association of Social Workers, Connecticut and meets the continuing education criteria for Connecticut Social Work Licensure renewal. The mediation training also now satisfies the basic mediation training requirement for membership in the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce.
