Our Accelerated Dual-Degree BS/MS in Accounting (3+1) program offers you the unique opportunity to earn a bachelor‘s and master‘s degree in 4 years, while also completing the 150 hours of classroom study required to become a Certified Public Accountant. The program offers the same quality education you would expect from the traditional 5-year approach.

The undergraduate component provides a foundation in the principles, concepts and technical practices of accounting. This prepares you for your fourth year, when you‘ll begin taking in-depth, graduate-level courses in advanced accounting skills and theory. This is meant to help prepare you for the CPA exam and for a productive career.

Accelerated dual-degree students have access to the same internship and study abroad opportunities found in the traditional bachelor‘s and master‘s programs. You also can take advantage of networking events and career fairs that bring representatives from the Big-4, international, regional and local CPA firms, in addition to employers from financial services firms, investment banks, various other companies, regulatory agencies, and not-for-profits.

Program features include:

A Living-Learning Community cohort housing opportunity, including a dedicated resident assistant (required for the first 3 years)
An academic adviser who also serves as the director of the program within the school
Special programming and networking opportunities for program students

We also offer the opportunity to complete your BS/MS in Accounting in a dual-degree format (5 years total).

This approach to earning your degrees improves on traditional higher education models by focusing on rigorous, interdisciplinary and experiential learning.

Course overload fees are waived during the Fall and Spring semesters for students in accelerated dual-degree programs up to 19 credits per term (or up to 20 credits per term for up to two semesters for students engaging in a study abroad program). Summer and/or January term courses may be required to earn the accelerated graduate degree and are also offered at no cost to students in accelerated dual-degree programs.**

*This only applies to the one graduate program associated with your chosen dual-degree.

**Not to exceed a seven-credit limit per Summer (Summer 1 and Summer 2 combined) or a three-credit limit per January term in which you enroll in courses. Any additional credits in a Summer or January term will have associated credit hour costs. Please see the tuition and fee schedule on the webpage for specific costs per program.

Accelerated dual-degree students, like all students, are required to live on campus for their first three years of enrollment.

Quinnipiac accounting students offer free tax help through VITA Program

Students participating in the Quinnipiac University Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program help low-income residents in the Greater Hamden and New Haven areas with income-tax preparation and filing under the guidance of faculty members who are certified public accountants. Hundreds of local residents have benefitted from the program over the past decade.

Internships

Preparing to navigate the complexities of a modern, globalized business landscape requires stepping outside of the classroom and exploring professional environments. As part of our business programs, we will encourage you to complete at least one internship that helps reinforce your academic learning. Not only will you develop hands-on experience, you can earn up to 6 academic credits for your achievement.

Regardless of major, you'll have opportunities to intern with companies in a variety of industries, from professional sports teams to NASA. Below is a sample of internship opportunities students accepted in each major of the School of Business.
