Curriculum and Requirements

Making your degree work for you

The core requirements of our MBA program explore all aspects of decision-making — from how it affects finance to the best approaches in a global economy. The curriculum also includes your choice of one of three courses we refer to as ”decision making tools” to help round out the core curriculum. Students have the option of choosing one of three professional focus tracks or their own electives to further customize their learning experience.

Our dedicated MBA program director will help you adjust your course load so that it reflects your professional interests and career goals, and ensures that you finish your degree within a timeframe that works for you. This means choosing purposeful electives to combine with the foundational MBA courses in leadership, management and decision-making. You also may opt to pursue specialized tracks in either finance, health care management or supply chain management.

Traditional MBA
Our traditional MBA blends decision-making models, financial analysis and organizational behavior with techniques for successfully leading, influencing and managing others. Our flexible curriculum also allows you to tailor your MBA to meet your professional goals. Focused electives are available in CIS, finance, entrepreneurship, health administration, international business, management, marketing and strategy.

MBA - Finance Track
The finance track combines the leadership and management aspects of the MBA with the financial services credentials of the CFA to deepen your understanding of global investment strategies, asset valuation and portfolio management. Completion of this track also prepares you for the first of three exams offered by the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA)©, the standard bearer of professional excellence within the global investment community.

MBA - Health Care Management Track
This track combines the business and leadership skills of the MBA with advanced course work in health care policy, financial management, information systems and decision making. This combination of skills prepares you for jobs as practice managers and health care consultants, while opening the door to future careers as a medical facility director, department administrator or hospital CFO.

MBA - Supply Chain Management Track
This specialized track blends core MBA skills with proficiency in logistics technology, analytics, global markets and team-based project leadership. You’ll understand nearly every stage of a product’s life cycle to ensure that it makes it from source to consumer as quickly and efficiently as possible. This attention to detail makes you vital to companies in virtually every major industry, from retail to manufacturing, distribution and even banking.

In their Words

“I like the convenience and the pacing of online classes, but there are always certain difficult subjects that require more interaction and faculty support. Having the flexibility to take certain courses, like statistics and accounting, in a classroom setting was a huge help to me and how I learn.”
Marissa Moon Vafiades, MBA '18
“Half-way through my degree, I received a job offer I couldn’t turn down that forced me to relocate out of state. Thanks to the program flexibility, I was able to keep my status as a part-time student and finish the rest of my courses online without missing a beat.”
Adam Markow, MBA '18

Quinnipiac University’s School of Business offers an MBA program that is consistently ranked among the best in the U.S. The program regularly attracts a very high quality of prospective students, and admission to the program is competitive.

Application timeline

Applications for the MBA program are accepted throughout the year. Students who are interested in full-time study can begin the program in January, May or August. Students who are interested in part-time study must start the program in August. Candidates are encouraged to submit applications as early as possible to ensure consideration for the semester desired.

GMAT/GRE waiver policy

A request for a waiver of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) may be submitted as part of the application process. In general, applicants meeting any of the criteria below may be eligible for such a waiver with documentation of the specific circumstances under which the waiver is being requested. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Completion of a minimum of five years of post-bachelor’s, professional and progressive work experience that reflects increasing levels of responsibility, particularly in such areas as budgets, finance, operations and staff supervision.
  • Completion of a master’s or doctoral level degree from an accredited institution within 10 years of the application to the QU MBA program. This includes the JD, MD, PhD and other related degrees.

Eligibility for a GMAT/GRE waiver does not guarantee admission. Applicants granted a waiver and subsequently denied admission may request reconsideration of their application with the inclusion of GMAT or GRE scores.

The final determination of a testing waiver is made by Quinnipiac’s School of Business. This will be done as quickly as possible, but students are encouraged to submit their applications and any accompanying waiver requests as early in the admissions cycle as possible in case there are questions, additional information is needed or the standardized testing requirement is not waived. The admission decision is made by Quinnipiac’s School of Business.
