If you dream about covering the World Series or interviewing NFL players after a big game, our program will give you the technical skills and journalistic expertise to excel as a professional sports reporter working in TV or radio, on the web or with a mobile news app. This combined five-year program lets you accelerate your education and begin taking graduate-level courses during your senior year. You’ll have the flexibility to choose any major that fits your interests and career ambitions, and can apply for the master’s component during your junior year.
Sports journalism isn’t simply about keeping score. We’ll teach you not only to report on what’s happening on the field, but also to keep your audience informed about the financial, health and ethical issues facing professional and college sports today. You’ll also receive plenty of hands-on experience in our Ed McMahon Mass Communications Center, where you’ll write scripts and shoot and edit video using cutting-edge equipment, including a high-definition studio, HD and 4K video editing suites.
By covering Quinnipiac sporting events and interviewing athletes at the TD Bank Sports Center, you’ll be able to apply what you learn in the classroom while developing practical reporting skills. And you’ll benefit from our vast alumni network. Quinnipiac was rated a Top 10 school for media professionals by LinkedIn, in large part due to the success of our alumni in the industry. Our graduates are working at ESPN, CNN and every major broadcast network.
