Enhance your skillset to protect confidential information better than ever with a cybersecurity badge. Designed for individuals who want to advance their careers, each credit earned from completing a badge course will be applied towards the MS in Cybersecurity should students enroll in the program at a later date.
Quinnipiac has developed relevant courses designed to address glaring needs in the workforce. These efforts have been completed as part of the Tech Talent Accelerator initiative, which was launched by the State of Connecticut to close technology skill gaps in high-demand areas.
Working professionals and matriculated students can earn a badge after completing a short course or series of short courses online. These courses are frequently updated and taught by leading faculty and industrial professionals.
Our current offerings, Applied Healthcare Cyber Risk Management and Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, enable learners to demonstrate mastery of tactical skills and knowledge of a variety topics such as managing and protecting sensitive data. We also have a micro-credential dedicated to cybersecurity in financial technology in development.
Learners can apply these badge credits toward a future Master of Science in Cybersecurity if they choose. Quinnipiac also can brainstorm with your company to develop courses and/or badges to match your particular area of interest.
Through this level III badge, learners will be introduced to concepts and practices needed to manage HIPAA compliance and security risks while instructing how to organize and facilitate these practices within an enterprise health organization.
To earn this badge, learners will compete CYB 613: Practical, Hands-On Healthcare Cyber Risk Management, a 3-credit course. The course contains three modules: HIPAA Compliance Risk Management, HIPAA Security Risk Analysis and Risk Management and Enterprise Cybersecurity Risk Management. Student will demonstrate an understanding of managing and protecting sensitive data within hospitals and health systems.
Level III badges are awarded to learners who have demonstrated mastery of tactical skills and knowledge that can be applied in professional working environments. Learners must showcase their ability to apply a collection of competencies or industry standards in true-to-life environments.

Through this level IV badge, learners are prepared to sit for the CompTIA+ Certification and are able to write formal pen test reports, discuss legal and ethical requirements, scope a pen test project, execute basic commands in Kali Linux, collect open-source intelligence against a target, explain the difference between active and passive scanning and scan a network using Nmap.
To earn this badge, learners will complete CYB 615: Intro to Ethical Hacking, a 3-credit course. Students learn the basics of conducting a penetration test, including understanding the legal requirements, how to conduct reconnaissance operations, operating common penetration testing tools and how to document the results of a penetration test.
The highest level of micro-credentials we offer, Level IV badges are recognized by employers as a means of identifying learners who are qualified and capable of performing particular skills or sharing specialized knowledge within professional environments.

If you are interested in earning a micro-credential but aren't currently enrolled in full-time study at Quinnipiac, you can register for certain courses as a non-degree-seeking student. In some cases, credits earned from completing these micro-credentials can be applied toward a graduate program should you decide to enroll at a later date.
Each credit earned from completing a badge course will be applied towards the MS in Cybersecurity should students enroll in the program at a later date. The School of Computing and Engineering offers two MS in Cybersecurity programs with both online and on-campus delivery.
