The field of occupational therapy continues to evolve, and with this evolution comes a growing demand for leaders capable of addressing complex challenges in today’s health care environment. The Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Occupational Therapy program (CAGS) provides current occupational therapists with a deeper exploration of evidence-based research and writing, strengthening the scientific tools needed to be agents of change within the field.
As a student, you’ll explore one of three specialized areas:
- School-based practice
- Teaching and learning
You’ll begin with exploring the scholarly reading and writing, evidence, and theory within your specific area of interest. The program cumulates with the preparation of an evidence-based manuscript suitable for publication in a practice-based magazine such as OT Practice. We designed the program with flexibility in mind, and all course work may be completed around your schedule in our online classroom.
Beyond serving as a credential to enhance your current practice, the CAGS program also can function as a bridge into our Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate program. Interested students who begin the certificate program during the spring semester are typically able to enter the doctoral program during the fall semester of the same calendar year.
