Social Welfare and Social Policy

This course provides students with a foundation understanding and appraisal of social welfare policies and programs in the United States, and the historical and contemporary forces that have shaped their development. It covers the formation of the social work profession and its role in the creation and implementation of social policy and its tradition of advocacy, social action, and reform.
