Issues of Diversity and Oppression

(3 cr.) This course examines the dynamics of racism and other forms of oppression in society and within us, and how those dynamics are intertwined with policy and practice. The course places oppression in the economic, political and social context of the U.S. Students analyze racism, sexism and ethnocentrism as they operate at the individual, community and institutional levels. The course aims to increase self-awareness and cultural humility for social work practice. Every Year, Spring
