(3 cr.) A Quinnipiac University education formally begins in the very first semester. Each student enrolls in a faculty-designed seminar constructed to help examine a fundamental issue or question from multiple perspectives. This seminar is designed to accomplish three essential goals. First, it introduces students to the concept of inquiry as a process that utilizes multiple approaches and perspectives to systematically investigate questions or problems. Students learn that the process of inquiry includes the collection, analysis and evaluation of various types of evidence. Second, the seminar enables students to understand how the process of inquiry works in practice through an investigation of a particular content area that the instructor selects from their area of expertise. Finally, students begin to develop a guiding question that they wish to explore throughout their undergraduate experience in light of the skills and knowledge that they acquired throughout this course.
