Special Topics in Microbiology

(1 cr.) The latest developments and concepts in the field of clinical and public health microbiology are introduced. Topics may include the oral microbiology, epidemiology of Streptococcal and Staphylococcal infections, antibiotic resistance, drug susceptibility testing, the bacteriology of the hospital environment, vaccine-preventable diseases or quality control in the clinical microbiology laboratory. Recommendation of BMS 213/370 lab instructor and permission of instructor needed. One lecture hour, one research meeting hour, one discussion hour and 4-10 lab hours.
