(3 cr.) In this practicum, students will participate in some classroom meetings, team meetings, and meetings before local land use agencies, primarily during regularly scheduled class time. Students will meet with the local land use agencies in a Connecticut town and will attend their meetings on a regular basis, analyzing applications and reporting to the rest of the class. Teams will be assigned to review selected regulations, present what they find during public sessions in the town, research and draft improvements to the regulations, and present those drafts at public meetings. The course will enable students to gain a real-world understanding of local land use regulations (many of which are profoundly imperfect), critique administrative proceedings, research and draft regulations, and make at least two public presentations. 3 credits
