Arab Culture and Society

(3 cr.) This course examines the historical, social, religious, cultural and artistic aspects of the modern Arab world. Students are exposed to traditions and customs of the Arabs in the Modern Middle East. Also, they become familiar with the diversity of the region and gain knowledge of the history and development of Arabic culture from the classical period to the present and the major cultural institutions of the Arabic-speaking world. The course provides students with a view of the cultural contours of the modern Arab world and the richness of the Arab cultural heritage. As Needed
