I received my Ph.D. from Stanford University in June of 2001 and joined the faculty of Quinnipiac in August of that same year. Since coming here I have taught a variety of courses on child development, as well as some of our department's core courses (e.g., Statistics). I currently oversee our department's Child Development Concentration which provides students with the opportunity to complete an internship working with children in some capacity. In addition to teaching, I also conduct research on children's cognitive development. More specifically, I am interested in finding out what children know about thinking and other mental processes. In my most recent research, I am exploring children's understanding of distraction and the strategies that can be used to prevent or remedy it.
