Dual-Degree MAT Programs

Begin Your Journey to Become a Teacher

Quinnipiac’s unique dual-degree Master of Arts in Teaching program goes beyond traditional teacher preparation, allowing you to bring a fresh perspective to your future classroom. Rather than a traditional education major, you’ll declare a major of your choosing and complete it alongside a master’s degree in teaching – all within five years.

An Efficient and Affordable Path to Teaching Certification

  • Seamless Transition: After you earn an undergraduate major of your choosing, you’ll immediately begin your graduate MAT year. As long as you maintain good academic standing, you’ll be enrolled without any additional tests or applications.
  • Save Time and Money: Certain courses will count toward both requirements, allowing you to graduate earlier and spend less money. You’re also eligible for tuition remission in your graduate year, which guarantees 50% of your tuition while you gain valuable experience.
  • Three Teaching Pathways: You’ll have the opportunity to explore any of our three traditional MAT opportunities in Elementary Education, Secondary Education or Special Education.
  • Increased Earning Potential: Dual-degree students enter the workforce with an advanced degree in hand, giving you a higher potential starting salary and advantage over other recent graduates.
  • A Supportive Network: You’ll be matched with a dedicated advisor, who will assist with course selection, internship placements and career preparation, all while offering mentorship from your first day at Quinnipiac into your first year of teaching.
