The MSN in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program prepares nurses who have at least one year of acute care experience to deliver life-saving treatments in acute care settings like hospital intensive care units and emergency rooms. In addition to assessing the needs of patients, this program will teach the pharmacological, non-pharmacological and interventional theory required for success in high-risk settings.

In this program, you will gain the theory and skills to effectively and confidently provide care and prescribe for patients with acute health issues. Graduates of this program are prepared for higher level professional practice and leadership roles in a variety of healthcare settings, as well as advanced study at the doctoral level.

The MSN in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner offers:
  • Full-time and part-time tracks that may be completed in two or three years respectively.

  • A flexible curriculum that allows students to complete all of their coursework online. Clinical hours may be completed in your home state.*

  • Hands-on clinical experience through three, one-week immersions completed on campus in our state-of-the-art facilities.

  • The option of seamlessly transitioning into the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program without losing any credits or duplicating any coursework within two years of completing the MSN.

*Due to state regulations, the clinical hours for Quinnipiac's nurse practitioner programs may not be completed within the state of New York. The School of Nursing is available to assist with securing placements within the state of Connecticut.
