From initial certification to a professional cross-endorsement, you’ll find what you need to build a safe and collaborative learning environment.

Foster inclusive learning environments

Quinnipiac University prepares educators to help students leverage their unique talents and abilities to learn. Each of our graduate special education programs features a progressive curriculum that provides:

  • An exploration of the exceptional child and specific learning disabilities (LD) including autism spectrum disorders, reading and math disorders and more.

Four pathways to support students

MAT in Special Education

Earn your initial teaching certification with an added focus in special education with Quinnipiac’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program. This full-time program may be completed in five months and offers a unique Tuition-Paid Internship Program across Quinnipiac’s 20 partner school districts in CT that can cover up to 50% of your tuition expenses.

MS in Special Education

Quinnipiac’s traditional MS in Special Education may be completed entirely online and provides you with a deeper understanding of how to foster an inclusive learning environment for all students. Both teachers and non-teachers are welcome to pursue this degree, which may be completed in a just under two years.

MS in Special Education with Cross-Endorsement

For those with their initial teaching certification, the 100% online MS in Special Education with Cross-Endorsement option allows educators to build in-demand special education skills and earn the CT-165 Comprehensive Special Education Cross-Endorsement. With reciprocity across many states, those outside of Connecticut may still be eligible to earn an equivalent endorsement in their own district.
