Faculty, staff encouraged to participate in summer hiking series

The faculty/staff summer hiking series, "Take the Tower," continues this summer with the exploration of the tower atop Sleeping Giant State Park.

The series of five hikes — on select Wednesdays in June and July — is open to all university employees, beginning June 9.

Each week, Vincent Contrucci, director of community service at Quinnipiac, will lead a hike on a different route with varying intensity.

Participants are encouraged to wear loose-fitting shorts, a lightweight shirt and cross-training sneakers or hiking boots. Insect repellent is also encouraged.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, June 9

    The Tower Path

    4:30-6 p.m., 3.2 miles roundtrip

  • Wednesday, June 16

    Red and violet trails

    4:30-6:30 p.m., 3.3 miles roundtrip

  • Wednesday, June 23

    Orange, red, yellow and green trails

    4:30-6:30 p.m., 2.75 miles roundtrip

  • Wednesday, June 30

    Red, violet and blue trails

    4:30-6:30 p.m., 2.34 miles roundtrip

  • Wednesday, July 14

    Blue and white trails

    4:30-6:30 p.m., 2.83 miles roundtrip
