Working out is a wonderful way for students to tackle finals-related stress and anxiety.

There are dozens of fitness classes spanning SPINNING, barre, yoga, Pilates and strength-training.

“You need to remind yourself that you can get through these times by taking care of yourself and showing yourself some compassion,” said Tami Reilly, director of fitness and well being at Quinnipiac.

She emphasizes that small, simple habits can be extremely beneficial, such as getting enough sleep and water, moving your body regularly, and getting yourself outside for a few minutes each day.

“Even a five-minute break to walk around the library and stretch, get some fresh air or even listening to your favorite song can help you reset and relax,” Reilly said.

Spending time with nature is linked to both cognitive benefits and improvement in mood, she said.

Each of Quinnipiac's three campuses offer many opportunities to connect with nature.

There are numerous spaces and walking paths enabling students to recharge and boost their mood.

In addition, students have access to counseling resources from Hartford HealthCare, the university's Community, Assessment, Response and Evaluation (CARE) team, residential life, Learning Commons – among others.

The university’s counseling services provide resources for a variety of mental health issues and life situations free of cost to students.
