Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine Apply for Financial Aid

How to Apply for Financial Aid

1

Complete the FAFSA application

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA becomes available on October 1. We recommend utilizing the IRS data retrieval tool (within the FAFSA) to expedite the process. Students who wish to be considered for institutional need-based funding must include parental financial information when completing the FAFSA. Students who exclude parental information will be considered for federal loans only.

Our federal school code is 001402.

2

Complete the merit scholarship application

To be considered for institutional merit funding, students need to complete a separate merit application, which will become available after January 1.

Review and submit your offer letter

Once your FAFSA results are processed by the financial aid office, you will receive an email indicating that your offer letter is ready. The electronic offer letter specifies the types of financial aid and amounts for which you are eligible. You will be prompted to log into the self-service site to accept your offer. Once logged in, you need to accept or decline each individual fund when prompted and electronically sign your offer letter. By submitting your electronic offer letter, you are acknowledging your financial aid offer and agreeing to abide by all of the terms and conditions set forth.

Complete entrance counseling and the MPN

Before any federal direct unsubsidized loan can be disbursed, students need to:

  1. Electronically accept the federal direct unsubsidized loan offer (see step 3 above)
  2. Complete online entrance counseling
  3. Complete the Federal Master Promissory Note

Once we have received these three completed requirements, your Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan will be pre-credited to your billing account. As long as your financial aid file is complete, your Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan will then be disbursed at the beginning of the fall and spring terms.
